From 12th to 14th April 2016 L.C.M.A. S.A exhibited on MEDTEC in STUTTGART GERMANY (Stand 3C48). The aim of this event was to promote and share all innovations or services in the medical sector.

The exihibition was succesful and we thanks all persons that visited us.

The shareholders of LCMA proudly announce that starting 2016 the leadership of the company will be assured by Mr Otis CLAEYS. During the last 10 years has he been responsible for finances ( CFO ), commercial operations ( COO ) to become now the General Manager ( CEO ). He will be assisted by Mr Thomas MITIDIERI as Production Manager and Dr-Ing. Igor TURKIN as Technical Director. This reorganisation is necessary to secure the future, continue to improve quality and optimise production with our manufacturers in Europe.

Titan: Höhenflug dank Luftfahrtindustrie

In den kommenden zehn bis 15 Jahren wird der Bedarf an Titan in der Luftfahrt enorm steigen. Diese Einschätzung vertritt Otis Claeys, COO des Titanspezialisten L.C.M.A. S.A., im Gespräch mit Edelstahl Aktuell. „Nicht nur für den Bau neuer Maschinen wird viel Titan benötigt, insbesondere für das Upgraden der vorhandenen Flotten erwarten wir eine große Nachfrage.“ Vor allem dank der problemlosen Kombination von Titan mit Kompositwerkstoffen, so die Einschätzung des Experten, werde sich der Verbrauch erhöhen. Titan eigne sich hervorragend in der Fertigung mit anderen Materialien und Legierungen, die Flugzeuge leichter machten und dadurch den Treibstoffverbrauch senkten. Anders sieht die Situation derzeit in der Öl- und Gasbranche aus. „Zahlreiche Projekte wurden verschoben, viele Verträge sind on hold”, berichtet Claeys. Es werde vorwiegend repariert, statt neu gebaut. Bei Großinvestitionen sei eine starke Zurückhaltung zu spüren.    

EA: Wie reagieren Sie auf die Entwicklung in der Luftfahrt?

OC: Wir befinden uns im Zertifizierungsprozess für Airbus. Das heißt, dass unsere Produkte und Prozesse zwischen Finkenwerder und Toulouse komplett unter die Lupe genommen werden. Das eigentliche Verfahren startet 2017 und ist auf zwei Jahre angelegt. Wir haben das Ziel, ab 2020 akkreditierter Lieferant für Airbus zu sein. Das Luftfahrtzertifikat vom TÜV Süd besitzen wir übrigens bereits seit zehn Jahren.

EA: Eine langfristige Planung…

OC: 2020 werden die Lieferantenverträge mit Airbus neu ausgehandelt. Dann wollen wir bereit sein.

EA: Das wäre natürlich ein riesiges Auftragsvolumen. Wie stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie das stemmen können?

OC: Wir sehen ebenfalls Riesenpotenzial. Aufgrund unserer Schwammproduktion haben wir die entsprechenden Möglichkeiten. Zudem verfügen wir in Rotterdam über ein Lager mit mehr als 1.000 Tonnen Titanschwamm. Zudem haben wir ein umfassendes Lager mit Blechen, Rohren und Stäben. Das alles zusammen verleiht uns die Fähigkeit, kurzfristig auf Großaufträge zu reagieren.

EA: Ist es nicht riskant, sich so stark auf einen Großkunden zu fokussieren?

OC: Nein überhaupt nicht, Airbus wäre nicht nur als Kunde wichtig für uns, sondern würde auch unser Renommee steigern . Und es wäre ein zusätzlicher positiver Beweis unserer Qualifikation für den Markt.

EA: Was ist denn Ihr Kerngeschäft?

OC: Wir sind spezialisiert auf Halbzeuge aus Titan. Wir haben an unserem Hauptsitz in Luxemburg nicht nur ein Büro, sondern auch eine große Werkstatt – insgesamt 2.000 Quadratmeter. Wir legen großen Wert darauf, dass wir die Verarbeitung selbst erledigen. Dafür betreiben wir unter anderem Drehbänke, Sägen und Wasserstrahlschneidegeräte. Wir können unsere Kunden in acht Sprachen bedienen.

Wir verwenden außerdem ausschließlich europäisches Material. Im März dieses Jahres haben wir angefangen, geschmiedete Titanblöcke aus 100 Prozent europäischer Produktion herzustellen.

EA: Ist der Hinweis auf „europäische Qualität“ für den Markt wichtig?

OC: Ja, viele Kunden scheuen das Risiko, günstigeres Material in Asien einzukaufen. Bis zu einem gewissen Grad ist die Qualität wichtiger als der Preis. Wobei wir natürlich ständig auf die Kostenkontrolle bei uns achten. Das Gesamtpaket aus Qualität, Preis und Service muss eben stimmen.

EA: Wo in Europa sind Sie denn vertreten?

OC: Sie finden uns nicht nur in Luxemburg, sondern auch in Italien, Rumänien, Tschechien und der Ukraine.

EA: In welchen anderen Branchen sind Sie tätig?

OC: In der Öl- und Gasindustrie sowie in der Medizintechnik. In der Öl- und Gasbranche ist es, wie eingangs beschrieben, derzeit sehr schwierig. Konstant verläuft die Entwicklung im Medizinbereich.
